The Black Dog

We have always had a soft spot for this breed, especially after rescuing our first dog, and ten-year-old black labrador retriever, Shiner, a few years ago. We currently have Henry, an almost one-year-old black lab puppy, and can't imagine any other pet. I love collecting black lab items and have artwork, a wine-stopper, and a rug among other trinkets. I don't see why we can't include him in some of our baby gear as well? These items from The Black Dog are now on my wish list!!

Get Your Fringe On

So "super cute junior" from last year's entries is now a senior and we still love swapping fashion finds. These are some boots she got at T.J. Maxx this season. I remember admiring them at the store, but worrying I couldn't pull them off. I think she got it right and now I wish I had them, too!

Janie and Jack

Now that I'm a mom-to-be I get pretty excited about finding adorable children clothing stores. While "Janie and Jack" has probably been a staple in kid's fashion for years, I just heard about it for the first time last weekend while visiting Annapolis. I visited their site and the polka dot and plaid couldn't get any cuter. Yes, it's expensive, but it can't hurt to look. Here are a few things I'm admiring from a far:

Anthropologie for kids...oh my!

I guess I never paid attention to the fact that Anthropologie had a kiddie section until now...I can't get over these adorable pieces. Maybe I can find a matching mommy and baby outfit?

I am unable to copy the pictures, so please check out these links for my favorites:

PeaceLoveMom

So you may have noticed Prissy's Closet going in a new direction. Since I'm pregnant, I have definitely done some posts on maternity fashion and now I can't help but add baby clothes to the mix. After finding out we're having a girl, I'm sure I'll be adding all kinds of pink. I saw this onesie from the brand PeaceLoveMom and thought it was adorable.

Yes to Denim Leggings!

After doing some research, I actually found denim maternity leggings online at Motherhood Maternity. I couldn't resist....I ordered them as a trial and actually fell in love. They are so comfortable that I haven't wanted to take them off since. Ben is still a little skeptical about the "jeggings" but I am planning on wearing them a lot!

The Whole Juno

We didn't end up going to any parties this year, but since I already gathered the costume together, I went ahead and put it on for a picture. Halloween just isn't the same for me without dressing up! I tried to talk Ben into being Bleeker, but he wasn't that enthusiastic. Notice I included the Sunny Delight, which is actually my favorite craving! Thanks to one of my students for letting me borrow the skirt and shoes...it made it more fun!

Happy Halloween!

My festive attire for today:

This is half of my Juno costume...Being a high school teacher, I thought I shouldn't wear the entire thing to school as to not promote teenage pregnancy! If I complete the outfit I'll wear a skirt over the jeans and a hoodie--very easy costume for a pregnant girl!

I borrowed the awesome Chuck's from a student!

Denim Leggings?

Since becoming pregnant and venturing into the land of maternity clothes, I have gotten very much into wearing leggings. I have never worn them before, but suddenly they are the most comfortable thing around. I would much rather wear stretchy leggings and a long, flowy top then frumpy or too tight pants and a girdle-like sweater. (I guess it all becomes girdle-like at some point). I feel okay with wearing black, grey , or brown, but have been considering venturing into the land of denim and am a bit unsure....I feel like they could be the perfect pair to my brown sweater dresses because a brown dress with brown leggings and brown boots is a bit monochromatic for me. I also like how Whitney Port paired them with a flowy top and flats.

On the other hand, I feel they are very hit or miss. No one wants to end up looking like an over-stuffed 80's throwback...or do they?

So, what's the verdict? Does skin-tight denim have a place in my world? I'll let ya know.

Black, White, and Green All Over

Katie & Joe Crabtree Wedding Festivity Outfits

Thursday night cocktail party: The bump was in full effect, but somewhat camoflouged in this picture because of those polka-dots!

Friday night rehearsal dinner: The dress is somewhat hidden, but it was flowy and comfortable. I found it on sale at White House/Black Market this summer. Don't worry, that is just sparkling cider for the two pregnant ladies!

Wedding day: Black dress, also clearance from White House/Black Market, with a green pashmina. As a reader in the wedding, I wanted to go along with the theme of black, white and lime green!

I didn't get any full shots, but these are my shoes, by Madden Girl, from T.J. Maxx. They had lots of lime green, to go with the shawl. I even made it till midnight on the dance floor without taking them off!

"Photographer Wears Prada"

I am a little mesmerized, to say the least, with these boots. I spotted them on the feet of wedding photographer, Jason Keefer, at the hair salon on Saturday. After my Shirley Temple 'do was complete, I snuck adoring glances at the swirling, hand-stitched craftsmanship dancing over his feet until finally mustering up the courage to ask where on earth they came from. I had an idea they weren't from around here, as such a fine specimen of Italian leather is about as commonly seen in the Valley as, say, Paris Hilton. Jason revealed nonchalantly and humbly that, yes, my musings were correct; the boots were Prada. He actually scored them from a friend in trade for his one-of-a-kind snake-skin, gold-tipped cowboy boots purchased at the Greene County Fair. As a girl quoted in The Daily News Leader describing her own, one-of-a-kind cowboy boots, I would've normally questioned the fairness of this barter, though after having my first "meeting of the Prada" I must say it was worth it. Thanks, Jason, for letting me swoon over the boots all weekend...maybe one day I, too, will own the crown gem of them all: The Prada Boot.

Jason snapped this photo of his boots next to my line-up of shoes before the wedding. I always bring extras...you never know when someone might break a heel!

Pretty Pink Pumps

Thanks to friends and amazing wedding photographers, Jason & Tammy Keefer, for sending me this awesome picture of the "pretty pink pumps" I wore this weekend. Love it!

Some outfit choices for the Engel Wedding...

Shoe choices...

Ended up going with the standby, black, J. Crew dress (saved the day!) and patent-leather, pink, peep-toe pumps from Rack Room. Necklace is, again, vintage from S.A.M. (Staunton Antique Market).

Pink & Green

With Molly at the Engel/Jarrels rehearsal dinner. Dress is an eyelet Lilly Pulitzer; necklace is vintage from Staunton Antique Market.

Shawl from Ross...even matches my gift!

Shoes from Banana Republic years ago! My how they've held up...they've been all the way to Nantucket and back.

Beautiful Bracelet

Found in a random boutique and given to my friend Emily from her mother.

LOVE.

Another Maxi Dress

Maxi dress from Marshall's in Charlottesville paired with coral earrings from Etsy...very soft and cool fabric for a scorching hot day in Roanoke. Not a Daniel Benjamin, but close!

Love this dress

I have owned this beautiful, Calvin Klein (via Ross) dress for over a year now and am still waiting for the perfect occasion for it to make it's debut. I thought I would wear it for Katie and Jamin's wedding but decided to go with the black and hot pink theme instead. Any ideas? Are the shoes too much?

PS. Don't mind me posing in my kitchen after a work-out...
PPS. I wish it had pockets!

More Daniel Benjamin Dresses!

Can't get enough of these!
